The BSC PREFERRED T967003 is a malleable foil tape engineered for waterproofing, vapor barrier applications, and air leak sealing in residential and commercial construction and HVAC work. The tape uses an aggressive acrylic adhesive that bonds firmly to a wide range of surfaces, including irregular or uneven substrates. The malleable foil backing conforms readily to contours, edges, and transitions where rigid tapes would fail or lift. This product is sold as a case of 24 rolls and is the equivalent replacement for part number S-7166.
This tape is used wherever a durable, moisture-resistant seal is required - ductwork seams, vapor barrier laps, flashing transitions, and air barrier details in wall and ceiling assemblies. HVAC technicians, insulators, and sheet metal contractors commonly reach for foil tape in these applications. The acrylic adhesive system maintains its bond across typical temperature ranges encountered in attics, crawl spaces, and mechanical rooms.
This tape is a direct equivalent to part number S-7166 and is suitable for use as a vapor barrier tape, duct sealing tape, and air barrier tape in standard residential and light commercial construction and mechanical applications.
Surface preparation is critical for maximum adhesion - clean, dry, and dust-free surfaces are required before application. Apply firm pressure across the full tape width to ensure full contact between the adhesive and the substrate. In cold-weather installations, verify that the acrylic adhesive is rated for the ambient temperature at time of application. This tape is typically installed by HVAC technicians, insulators, or general contractors as part of duct sealing or building envelope work.
