The BSC PREFERRED BSF114 is a self-retracting lifeline (SRL) designed for fall arrest applications in general industry and construction environments. The unit features a 6-foot, 1-inch-wide polyester web lifeline that reduces overall system weight while the retractable mechanism allows full freedom of movement on the job. A high-capacity external energy absorption system maintains safe arrest forces for workers and tools combined up to 310 pounds. A visual indicator activates when the SRL has been involved in a fall event, signaling the unit must be removed from service and inspected before further use. Licensed fall protection professionals and safety-qualified contractors are the primary installers and inspectors for this equipment.
The BSF114 is suited for residential and commercial construction, industrial maintenance, and any elevated work scenario where direct connection to a full-body harness is required. The retractable web design stops a falling worker within inches of the fall initiation point, providing meaningful protection even at low working heights where traditional shock-absorbing lanyards may not arrest a fall before ground contact. The swiveling anchorage loop reduces lifeline twisting during lateral movement for smoother day-to-day operation.
The BSF114 is designed for direct connection to most standard full-body harnesses and is listed as equivalent to part number H-4622.
Installation and inspection must be performed by a competent person as defined under applicable OSHA fall protection regulations (29 CFR 1926.502 for construction, 29 CFR 1910.140 for general industry). Before connecting the SRL, ensure the anchorage point meets minimum strength requirements per applicable standards. Inspect the snap hook gate, web lifeline, energy absorber housing, and visual indicator before each use. Remove the unit from service immediately if the fall indicator has been triggered or if any component shows visible damage.
