The BSC PREFERRED 762960 is a green-coated exterior wood screw designed for decking, fencing, siding, and general outdoor fastening applications. It features a 6-lobed star drive for fast bit engagement and improved torque control during installation. The countersinking bugle head seats flush to the surface, reducing the risk of head protrusion and leaving a clean finish. An extra-coarse thread and Type 17 point allow the screw to self-start and drive efficiently into dimensional lumber without pre-drilling in most applications. PrimeGuard Plus polymer coating provides corrosion resistance against moisture and weathering.
This screw is suited for residential and light commercial exterior construction. Common applications include deck boards, fence pickets, and exterior siding panels. It is rated for use with pressure treated lumber, cedar, and redwood. Note that cedar and redwood may streak or stain when in contact with any coated fastener. For those species, stainless steel fasteners are strongly recommended. This box contains approximately 5 pounds of screws sold as a single box unit.
Designed for exterior wood fastening applications including decks, fencing, siding, and general outdoor construction using pressure treated lumber, cedar, and redwood. Not recommended as the sole fastener choice for cedar or redwood where staining is a concern.
Installation is performed by carpenters, general contractors, and experienced DIYers working on exterior wood structures. Power down any adjacent electrical components before working in close proximity to structural wiring. A 6-lobed star drive bit is required — do not substitute a Phillips or square bit, as this will damage the drive recess. Follow local building codes for fastener spacing, penetration depth, and load requirements on deck and structural assemblies.
