The BSC PREFERRED 19054-24 is an all-purpose purple primer formulated for use on PVC and CPVC pipe and fittings. It works by removing gloss, softening the surface, and penetrating the material to prepare a proper bonding surface before solvent cement is applied. The formula is especially effective on high-gloss, hard-finish bell-end pipe and fittings where standard surface prep may fall short. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters use this primer as a required step in solvent-weld joint assembly. It meets ASTM F-656 standards and carries NSF certification with UPC listing, making it suitable for potable water and drain applications.
This primer is used in residential and light commercial plumbing installations wherever PVC or CPVC pipe and fittings are joined with solvent cement. Common applications include water supply lines, drain-waste-vent systems, and irrigation piping. The 0.25-pint container is sized for smaller jobs, repair work, or situations where a compact, single-use quantity is practical on the job site.
Designed for use as a surface prep primer on PVC and CPVC pipe and fittings prior to solvent cement application in standard plumbing and piping assemblies.
This primer is applied by licensed plumbers in accordance with local plumbing codes and manufacturer instructions for solvent-weld joints. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before beginning any pipe work. Apply primer to both the pipe end and fitting socket using the dauber, allow it to flash briefly, then apply solvent cement while surfaces are still tacky. Work in a well-ventilated area, as the product contains flammable solvents.
