The BSC PREFERRED 14612 is a galvanized steel plumbers tape hanger strap designed to suspend pipe from joists, rafters, and structural framing members. Measuring 3/4 inch wide and 10 feet long, this strap provides a straightforward, low-cost solution for pipe support in residential and light commercial plumbing applications. The steel is galvanized for corrosion resistance, making it suitable for use in damp or exposed interior environments. Alternating 1/4 inch and 3/16 inch nail holes run the length of the strap, allowing installers to fasten it quickly without drilling. Plumbers and pipefitters reach for this type of hanger tape when routing water supply, drain, waste, and vent lines through wood-framed construction.
This strap is used in new construction and remodel work where pipe needs to be secured overhead or along framing. It is appropriate for suspending copper, CPVC, PVC, and similarly sized pipe runs beneath floor joists or from rafter bays. The 10-foot length gives enough material to handle multiple support points from a single piece, and the strap can be cut to length with tin snips in the field. Typical applications include residential water supply lines, drain and vent stacks, and light mechanical rough-in work.
Designed as a general-purpose OEM-style hanger strap for suspending pipe from wood-framed joists and rafters in residential and light commercial plumbing installations.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following local plumbing code requirements, including IPC spacing guidelines for pipe hangers. Shut off the water supply before working on any pressurized lines in the area. Secure the strap to framing using appropriately sized nails or screws driven through the pre-punched holes, and avoid overtightening fasteners in a way that deforms the strap channel around the pipe. Wear gloves when cutting the strap, as cut galvanized steel edges are sharp.
