Many building codes require exhaust fans in multi-family buildings with fire-rated ceilings to be protected by radiation dampers. This unit activates when air temperature exceeds one hundred sixty-five degrees Fahrenheit. The fusible link melts and closes the thermal fabric across the damper. This system forms a barrier against flames and heat, ensuring safety during a fire.
