The BROAN-NUTONE AE50 is a single-speed, no-light bathroom ventilation fan rated at 50 CFM and 0.5 sones, designed for quiet, efficient exhaust in residential bathrooms and similar spaces. Operating at 120 volts and drawing just 0.2 amps, it meets ENERGY STAR qualification standards for energy efficiency. The unit features foldable mounting ears and an updated damper and housing design engineered to improve building airtightness. A polymeric white grille provides a clean finish compatible with a wide range of interior styles. Licensed contractors and ventilation specialists install this fan in both new construction and room-side retrofit applications.
The AE50 is part of the InVent Series, which is built to support flexible installation scenarios without requiring separate product lines for new construction versus retrofit work. The 4-inch duct connection handles standard residential exhaust routing. Its low sone rating makes it well-suited for bedrooms, master baths, and other spaces where noise is a concern. The housing dimensions of 9.25 inches by 10 inches by 5.75 inches fit within standard joist bays, and the room-side retrofit capability means the unit can be installed from below without attic access in many situations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation ventilation fan for residential bathroom exhaust applications requiring a 4-inch duct connection and standard 120-volt single-speed operation.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician or qualified contractor in accordance with NEC guidelines and local building codes. Disconnect power at the breaker before beginning any wiring work. The room-side retrofit design allows installation from below the ceiling in many applications, but verify joist spacing and duct routing before starting. Duct termination must exhaust to the exterior of the building, not into an attic or interstitial space, per standard mechanical codes.
