The BRIDGEPORT FITTINGS SB-387NM is a 2-1/2-inch nonmetallic insulated split bushing designed to protect conductors passing through conduit knockouts and to terminate rigid conduit, IMC conduit, or EMT connectors to a box or enclosure. The gray plastic construction is heat rated to 105 degrees C, making it suitable for demanding electrical environments. The split design allows the bushing to be installed over existing conductors without disconnecting or re-pulling wire, reducing labor time during retrofits and system upgrades. The inner bore diameter measures 1.84 inches. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors are the typical installers of this fitting.
This bushing is suited for both new construction and retrofit applications in commercial, industrial, and residential electrical installations. It is used at the point where rigid conduit, IMC, or EMT connectors enter a junction box, panel enclosure, or other electrical enclosure. The split design is particularly useful when upgrading existing power and data systems where conductors are already in place, allowing the bushing to be seated without pulling conductors back through the conduit run.
Designed for use with 2-1/2-inch rigid conduit, IMC conduit, and EMT connectors terminating to a box or enclosure, as an OEM-style conductor protection fitting for standard trade-size conduit systems.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians in accordance with NEC requirements. De-energize all circuits in the affected enclosure before beginning work. The split bushing seats into the conduit opening or connector hub by pressing the two halves together around the conductors, then seating the assembly firmly into the knockout or connector. Do not force the bushing into an undersized knockout, as this can crack the nonmetallic body and compromise conductor protection.
