The BRAXTON HARRIS COMPANY f48-44 is a 1/4 inch OD flare x 1/4 inch male pipe thread (MPT) brass flared adapter designed to transition soft copper or aluminum tubing to a threaded pipe connection. Constructed from lead-free brass, this fitting delivers corrosion resistance and mechanical reliability in demanding service environments. It is suited for potable water, low-pressure gas, and hydraulic applications where fitting integrity and material compliance are required. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians install this type of adapter when connecting refrigerant or fluid lines to threaded system components.
This adapter is commonly used in residential and light commercial installations where 1/4 inch OD soft copper or aluminum tubing must terminate at a male pipe thread port. Typical applications include HVAC refrigerant line connections, plumbing supply transitions, and low-pressure gas fittings. The OD flare-to-MPT configuration makes it a standard transition fitting at equipment ports, manifolds, valves, and supply line takeoffs requiring a flared tube seat on one side and a pipe thread engagement on the other.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation flared adapter for systems using 1/4 inch OD soft copper or aluminum tubing with 1/4 inch male pipe thread terminations in HVAC, plumbing, and low-pressure fluid or gas service.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician. Shut off and depressurize the system before removing or installing any fittings. The tubing end must be properly cut square, deburred, and flared to a 45-degree seat before seating against the flare nut and this adapter. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male pipe threads in accordance with local plumbing code and the fitting manufacturer guidance; do not overtighten, as brass threads can be damaged by excessive torque.
