The BRASSCRAFT bc-g2cr14x c is a straight stop valve with a 5/8 inch x 3/8 inch compression configuration. Straight stops are quarter-turn or multi-turn shutoff valves installed on supply lines to control water flow to fixtures such as toilets, faucets, and under-sink appliances. This valve connects the rigid supply line coming from the wall to the flexible or rigid riser that feeds the fixture. Plumbers and plumbing service technicians install these valves during new construction, fixture replacement, and supply-line repair work on residential and light commercial potable water systems.
The 5/8 inch inlet is sized to slip over standard copper tubing, while the 3/8 inch compression outlet accepts standard fixture supply lines. This makes the valve a common fit for bathroom and kitchen rough-in applications where copper supply stubs are present. The straight body orientation is used when the supply stub exits the wall horizontally in line with the fixture connection, as opposed to an angle stop configuration used on floor-mounted stubs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation straight stop valve for residential and light commercial plumbing systems using copper supply lines with standard 5/8 inch and 3/8 inch compression fittings.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified plumbing technician in accordance with applicable local codes and the IPC. Shut off the main water supply and relieve line pressure before removing any existing valve or fitting. Compression fittings require proper seating of the ferrule against the tubing — do not overtighten, as this can crack the ferrule or distort the tubing. Inspect the supply stub for corrosion or damage before installing the new valve.
