The BRASSCRAFT bc-B1-20AF is a compression-to-female iron pipe (FIP) adapter fitting used to connect 3/8 inch compression tubing to a 1/2 inch FIP threaded port. This type of fitting is a standard transition connector in water supply rough-in and fixture connection work. It creates a leak-resistant joint between soft copper or plastic supply tubing and threaded female fittings found on shutoff valves, supply lines, and fixture stops. Licensed plumbers and experienced DIYers install this fitting during new construction, remodels, and fixture replacement work where different connection types must be joined at a single point.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications. Typical installation scenarios include connecting supply tubing to toilet fill valves, faucet supply ports, ice maker lines, and similar low-pressure domestic water supply points. The 3/8 inch compression inlet accepts standard compression ferrule and nut assemblies, while the 1/2 inch FIP outlet threads onto standard NPT-threaded male fittings and valves.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting compatible with standard 3/8 inch compression supply tubing and 1/2 inch NPT female-threaded ports on shutoff valves and fixture supply connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified tradespeople. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting or disconnecting any tubing. Hand-tighten the FIP connection first, then use a wrench for final seating — avoid overtightening, which can crack the fitting body or damage threads. Compression fittings should be assembled with a properly seated ferrule and nut; do not reuse a previously compressed ferrule on a new fitting.
