The BRADY bs08a-rd is a 4-legged ball valve lockout device designed for use in lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures on industrial and commercial piping systems. Constructed from ultra-tough polypropylene, the device withstands temperatures ranging from 0 to 175 degrees F, making it suitable for a wide range of service environments. It accommodates ball valves on pipes ranging from 2 inches to 8 inches in diameter, providing broad coverage across common pipe sizes. Safety coordinators, maintenance technicians, and licensed tradespeople use this device to physically prevent unauthorized valve operation during scheduled maintenance or equipment servicing.
This lockout device is applied wherever ball valves must be secured against accidental or unauthorized actuation during maintenance windows. Typical installations include HVAC mechanical rooms, industrial process piping, commercial plumbing systems, and facility maintenance environments. The patented 4-legged design locks firmly around the valve body, and the unit accepts a standard padlock through the 0.33-inch inside diameter hole to complete the lockout. It is well suited for any setting where OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147 energy control procedures are required.
Designed as an OEM-style lockout device for ball valves installed on pipes ranging from 2 inches to 8 inches in diameter across residential, commercial, and industrial piping systems.
Installation and removal of this lockout device is performed by qualified maintenance personnel, safety technicians, or licensed tradespeople following an established energy control program. Before applying the lockout, shut off and isolate the energy source controlling the valve per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147 procedures. Secure a personal safety padlock through the hasp hole to complete the lockout. Remove the device only after all affected personnel have cleared the work area and the authorized lockout procedure has been formally released.
