The BOSHART UPPRA-1510 is a reducing polypropylene hose adapter designed to connect polyethylene tubing to standard female pipe threads using a male iron pipe (MPT) x insert configuration. The larger end features a 1-1/2 inch MPT connection, while the insert end accepts 1 inch polyethylene tubing. Polypropylene construction offers resistance to corrosion and chemical degradation, making it a practical choice for low-pressure water distribution, irrigation, and rural water supply applications. Plumbers and irrigation technicians install this fitting when transitioning between threaded pipe assemblies and flexible poly tubing systems.
This adapter is suited for residential and light commercial installations where polyethylene pipe connects to threaded iron pipe fittings. Common applications include well water systems, agricultural irrigation lines, and yard hydrant supply runs. The reducing geometry allows a technician to step down from a larger threaded connection to a smaller insert fitting in a single component, eliminating the need for additional couplings or reducers in the line.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for polyethylene pipe systems that terminate at a standard 1-1/2 inch female threaded port.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber or qualified irrigation technician. Shut off water supply and relieve line pressure completely before disassembling any existing fittings. Thread the MPT end into the female pipe fitting by hand first, then tighten with a pipe wrench using thread sealant tape or compound rated for plastic fittings. Seat the insert end fully into the polyethylene tubing and secure with an appropriately sized hose clamp; do not overtighten, as polypropylene fittings can crack under excessive clamp torque.
