The BOSHART UNA-20 is a nylon insert coupling designed to connect polyethylene pipe using a 2-inch barbed inlet and a 2-inch male iron pipe straight (MIPS) threaded outlet. The barbed end inserts directly into the polyethylene pipe for a secure mechanical grip, while the MIPS end threads into a female-threaded fitting or valve. Nylon construction offers corrosion resistance and is well-suited for water distribution, irrigation, and low-pressure fluid transfer applications. This fitting is commonly installed by plumbers and irrigation technicians working with polyethylene pipe systems in residential and light commercial settings.
This coupling is intended for use with standard polyethylene pipe in applications such as residential water service lines, irrigation laterals, and drip distribution systems. The insert-by-male-pipe-thread configuration makes it a practical transition fitting where a polyethylene run needs to terminate or connect at a threaded port on a valve, manifold, or other threaded component. The fitting ships as a single unit and is suitable for use wherever a durable, corrosion-resistant nylon fitting is specified.
Designed as an OEM-style insert fitting for standard 2-inch polyethylene pipe with a 2-inch male iron pipe straight threaded termination.
Installation is performed by plumbers or irrigation technicians. The barbed end should be fully inserted into the polyethylene pipe and secured with a stainless steel clamp or insert fitting ring to maintain a watertight seal. Shut off and depressurize the water supply before beginning work. Thread the MIPS end into the mating female fitting using appropriate thread sealant tape or compound per local plumbing code requirements.
