The BOSCH GLL 55 is a self-leveling cross line laser level designed for layout, alignment, and leveling tasks across a wide range of trade and construction applications. It projects two laser beams in a cross-line pattern and features a Smart Pendulum System that self-levels automatically, eliminating the need for manual leveling adjustments. Accuracy is rated at 5/16 inches at 30 feet. The unit runs on three AA batteries, which are included. Over-molded construction provides job-site durability, and the simple keypad operation keeps setup fast. The GLL 55 is a practical tool for electricians, plumbers, tile setters, carpenters, and general contractors who need repeatable level and plumb reference lines.
The GLL 55 suits residential and light commercial work where a reliable, portable leveling reference is needed. Typical applications include layout for electrical panels and conduit runs, plumbing fixture alignment, drop ceiling grids, door and window framing, and tile work. The maximum measuring range is 50 feet, making it appropriate for most interior room layouts. The kit includes the GLL 55 laser level, a hard carrying case, a laser target plate, and a magnetic mounting bracket, so it arrives ready to deploy on site without additional accessory purchases.
Designed as a self-contained laser leveling tool compatible with standard magnetic mounting brackets and laser target plates; the included magnetic mounting bracket attaches to common metal framing and surfaces without additional hardware.
Setup and operation of the GLL 55 does not require licensed trade credentials, but job-site laser safety practices apply — avoid directing the beam toward eyes and post laser-in-use warnings in shared work areas per ANSI Z136 guidelines. Mount using the included magnetic bracket or a standard 1/4-20 tripod thread. Verify the unit has completed its self-leveling cycle before recording or transferring any reference lines. If the pendulum lock indicator is active, the unit is not level and readings should not be used.
