The ROBERT BOSCH TOOL GROUP DSB1015 is a 1-1/8-inch by 6-inch spade bit designed for fast, accurate boring in wood and wood-composite materials. Sold in a 5-piece pack, it features a full cone threaded tip that draws the bit into the material and reduces the force needed to advance the drill. A contoured paddle design accelerates chip evacuation, keeping the cutting zone clear during deep passes. Spur and reamer tips score the perimeter of the hole before the paddle clears material, producing cleaner entry and exit holes. The bit fits standard 1/4-inch hex quick-change chucks and delivers a usable drilling depth of 5 inches.
This spade bit is suited for residential and light commercial rough-in work where electricians, plumbers, and HVAC technicians need to run conductors, pipe, or flex duct through framing members. The 6-inch overall length provides reach through standard dimensional lumber and engineered framing. The 5-piece pack format supports jobsite restocking or tool bag loadouts where bit loss and wear are routine. The quick-change hex shank allows fast swaps between chuck configurations without tools.
Designed for use with any drill or driver accepting a standard 1/4-inch hex shank. Suitable for boring through softwood, hardwood, and wood composites typical in residential and light commercial framing applications.
Install and removal should be performed by qualified tradespeople following applicable codes such as the NEC, IPC, or IFGC where hole placement in framing is governed by clearance and protection requirements. Confirm the drill or driver is powered off and the battery or power source is disconnected before changing bits. Use appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece before drilling to prevent rotation. Avoid forcing the bit through the material at speeds that cause excessive heat buildup, which can dull the cutting edges prematurely.
