The ROBERT BOSCH TOOL GROUP DSB1004 is a 7/16-inch by 6-inch spade bit engineered for fast, accurate drilling in wood and wood-composite materials. The full cone threaded tip pulls the bit into the workpiece without manual pressure, reducing operator fatigue on repetitive bores. A contoured paddle design accelerates chip removal and keeps the cutting path clear, while spur and reamer tips at the outer edges produce cleaner hole walls with less tearout. The 1/4-inch hex shank seats directly into standard quick-change drill chucks for rapid bit swaps on the job. Maximum drilling depth is 5 inches. Each package contains 5 bits.
This bit is suited to residential and light commercial rough-in work where electricians, plumbers, and general carpenters need to run conduit, pipe, or cable through framing members. The 6-inch overall length provides enough reach to drill through a standard 2x wall plate in a single pass without an extension. The 7/16-inch diameter is a common size for low-voltage cable and smaller conduit pass-throughs. The hex shank makes this bit compatible with impact-rated quick-change chucks as well as standard keyless chucks.
Designed for use in wood, engineered lumber, and wood-composite materials with any drill or driver fitted with a 1/4-inch hex chuck or quick-change chuck system.
Licensed electricians, plumbers, and carpenters are the typical installers for spade bits used in rough-in drilling applications. Ensure the workpiece is secured before drilling to prevent movement. Keep the bit speed appropriate for the material to avoid excessive heat buildup, and back the bit out periodically on deep bores to clear chips. Follow applicable NEC or IPC clearance requirements when drilling near structural members.
