The BOSCH biva-60rxb-m15x is a multi-position air handler from the BIVA series, designed for residential and light-commercial heat pump systems using R454B refrigerant. Rated at 5 tons of capacity with up to 15.2 SEER2 and up to 8.5 HSPF2, this unit delivers high-efficiency performance in a fully insulated cabinet. It ships with a factory-installed TXV metering device and a factory-installed A2L refrigerant sensor, which is required for safe operation with R454B. A PSC blower motor with three selectable speeds handles airflow. Licensed HVAC technicians certified to handle A2L refrigerants are the intended installers for this equipment.
This air handler is built for flexibility across new installations and replacements. It supports upflow and horizontal-right orientations from the factory, and is field-convertible to horizontal-left or downflow. Multiple electrical entry locations simplify rough-in. The unit is compatible with most standard 24 VAC heat pump thermostats, reducing the need for additional control accessories. Supplemental or emergency electric heat is supported through accessory kits available in 5, 7.5, 10, 15, and 20 kW ratings. The integrated filter rack with tool-less door access and slide-out blower and coil assembly are designed to keep service calls efficient.
Compatible with most standard 24 VAC heat pump thermostats. Designed for use with R454B refrigerant systems. Electric heat accessory kits in 5, 7.5, 10, 15, and 20 kW ratings are available for supplemental or emergency heating applications.
Installation must be performed by an HVAC technician licensed to work with A2L refrigerants. Disconnect all electrical power before servicing the unit. Verify local and national codes, including applicable sections of the NEC, before beginning installation. Do not operate the system without confirming that the factory-installed A2L sensor is functional and properly wired.
