The BOSCH biva-48rxb-m15x is a multi-position air handler from the BIVA Series, designed for residential heat pump systems using R454B refrigerant. Rated at 4 tons of capacity and up to 15.2 SEER2 and 8.5 HSPF2, this unit meets current efficiency standards for split-system heat pump applications. The cabinet features a fully insulated design with a factory-installed TXV and an all-aluminum evaporator coil for long-term corrosion resistance. A PSC blower motor with three selectable speed taps provides installation flexibility across a range of airflow requirements. A factory-installed A2L refrigerant sensor is included, supporting safe handling of the mildly flammable R454B refrigerant. Licensed HVAC technicians install this unit in residential and light commercial applications.
The biva-48rxb-m15x supports upflow and horizontal-right configurations as shipped, with field conversion available for horizontal-left and downflow orientations. It operates on a 208-230/1/60 electrical supply and is compatible with most standard 24-volt AC heat pump thermostats. Supplemental or emergency electric heat is supported through accessory electric heat kits rated at 5, 7.5, 10, 15, or 20 kilowatts, sold separately. The dual front panel design and slide-out blower and coil assembly simplify routine maintenance and service access. Integrated filter rack with tool-less door access reduces service time in the field.
Designed for use with R454B refrigerant in residential split-system heat pump applications. Compatible with most standard 24-volt AC heat pump thermostats. Electric heat accessory kits rated 5, 7.5, 10, 15, and 20 kW are available for supplemental or emergency heating.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician certified to handle A2L refrigerants per applicable local and national codes. Disconnect and lock out all electrical power before servicing the unit or accessing the blower and coil assembly. Multiple electrical entry locations are provided to accommodate various installation configurations. Verify condensate drain routing and use both the primary and secondary drain fittings as required by local plumbing codes.
