The BOSCH bgh96m100c5c is a two-stage, multipoise condensing gas furnace rated at 96% AFUE and 100,000 BTU/h heating capacity. It operates on a 115V/1-phase/60Hz electrical supply and is engineered to meet current safety requirements for use with low-global-warming-potential refrigerants, including R-454B. The multipoise design allows installation in upflow, downflow, horizontal left, and horizontal right orientations, giving installers flexibility in tight or unconventional equipment spaces. Licensed HVAC technicians install this unit in residential forced-air heating systems, typically as a standalone furnace or as part of a matched system with compatible coils and outdoor units.
The bgh96m100c5c is designed for residential heating applications where high-efficiency gas heat is required. Its two-stage operation allows the furnace to run at a reduced firing rate during moderate weather conditions, reducing short-cycling and improving comfort. When paired with compatible Bosch IDS outdoor units and cased coils, the system can function in a dual-fuel configuration, combining gas heat with a heat pump for optimized efficiency across varying outdoor temperatures. This makes it a practical fit for new construction as well as retrofit installations replacing existing forced-air equipment.
Compatible with Bosch IDS outdoor units and cased coils for complete heating and cooling or dual-fuel system configurations. Designed as an OEM residential condensing gas furnace intended for installation in forced-air ducted systems.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with local mechanical codes, the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), and the furnace manufacturer installation instructions. Shut off gas supply and disconnect electrical power before servicing or replacing any components. Condensing furnaces require a dedicated condensate drain line; verify proper pitch and drainage before startup. Flue venting must use approved PVC or CPVC materials rated for condensing applications — do not use B-vent or single-wall metal flue pipe with this unit.
