The BONEHAM SF4816IM is a slip-fixed drill bushing designed for use in jig and fixture applications where precise hole location and repeatable drilling accuracy are required. Built from hardened steel with a Rockwell hardness of 60 to 65 HRC, this bushing features a 5/16 inch inside diameter and a 3/4 inch body outside diameter with a 1 inch length under the head. The SF designation follows ANSI industry standards for slip-fixed bushings. It includes a head with a 1-3/64 inch outside diameter and a 1/4 inch head height, and is compatible with LS-1 lock screws for secure retention during operation. Machining professionals and tool-and-die tradespeople use this type of bushing for guided drilling in production fixtures.
This bushing suits production drilling setups where bushings must be removed and replaced during multi-operation machining sequences. The slip-fixed design allows the bushing to be locked into a liner bushing using an LS-1 compatible lock screw, preventing rotation during drilling. It is appropriate for use in metal fabrication shops, toolrooms, and manufacturing environments where ANSI-standard jig bushing systems are specified. The renewable design extends fixture life by allowing worn bushings to be swapped out without replacing the fixture plate itself.

Installation is performed by machinists or toolmakers during fixture assembly or bushing replacement. The fixture plate should be secured and the mating liner bushing must be properly seated before inserting the SF bushing. Use an LS-1 lock screw to secure the bushing and prevent rotation during drilling. Do not force the bushing into an undersized or misaligned liner bushing bore, as this can damage the inside diameter tolerance and compromise hole location accuracy.
