The BONEHAM SF3228IZ is a slip-fixed drill bushing designed for precision hole location in jig and fixture applications. It features an inside diameter of 0.339 inches (Letter R) with a tight tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0005 inches, a body outside diameter of 0.5 inches, and a length under head of 1.75 inches. Constructed from steel, this head-style bushing is counterbored and accepts an LS-1 compatible lock screw to secure it in place. It is classified under industry code SF and is designed as a renewable bushing, allowing field replacement without disturbing the liner bushing pressed into the jig plate.
This bushing is used in drill jig fixtures across metalworking, machining, and fabrication operations. It is appropriate for production environments where accurate, repeatable drill guidance is required. The renewable design suits applications where bushings must be swapped out during a job or replaced after wear. Machinists, toolmakers, and fixture builders are the typical end users. The slip-fixed configuration relies on the LS-1 lock screw to prevent rotation and axial movement during drilling operations.
Designed for use with LS-1 compatible lock screws. Fits standard SF-series liner bushings sized for a 0.5 inch body outside diameter. Verify liner bushing inside diameter and counterbore dimensions against your fixture plate before installation.
Installation is performed by toolmakers or machinists during jig fixture assembly or maintenance. The bushing slips into the installed liner and is locked in position using the appropriate LS-1 lock screw — do not operate the bushing without the lock screw engaged. Before replacing a worn bushing, ensure the drill press or machine is powered down and all tooling is clear. Confirm the liner bushing bore and seating surface are clean and free of chips or burrs to maintain dimensional accuracy.
