The BONEHAM PT286HU is a headless, press fit drill bushing designed to guide drill bits with precision in jig and fixture applications. It features an inside diameter of 0.277 inches with a tight tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0005 inches, a body outside diameter of 7/16 inches, and an overall length of 3/8 inches. Machined from steel, this bushing is a permanent, non-renewable style intended for direct press installation into a drill jig plate. It is suited for use in production and toolroom environments where repeatable hole location accuracy is required. Machinists, tool and die makers, and fixture builders are the primary installers.
This bushing is used in drilling jigs and fixtures across general metalworking, manufacturing, and fabrication settings. The P industry code designation indicates this is a standard catalog size conforming to established bushing dimensioning conventions. It fits applications requiring a 0.277 inch nominal bore with close ID tolerance to minimize drill wander. The headless profile keeps the bushing flush with the jig plate surface, making it appropriate for applications where a protruding head would interfere with workpiece clamping or part travel. Suitable for both light production runs and high-volume drilling operations.
Designed as a standard P-code press fit headless drill bushing for use in drill jigs and fixtures requiring a 0.277 inch ID bore and a 7/16 inch OD press fit seat.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolmakers using an arbor press or hydraulic press to drive the bushing into a precisely reamed jig plate hole. The jig plate bore must be reamed to the correct interference fit tolerance before pressing to avoid bushing distortion or misalignment. Do not hammer the bushing directly without a proper driver to prevent damage to the ID or OD surfaces. Once pressed in, this is a permanent installation and the bushing is not intended for removal and reuse.
