The BONEHAM PT285HD is a press fit headless drill bushing designed to guide cutting tools accurately and consistently during drilling, reaming, and boring operations. Assigned industry bushing code P, this part features an inside diameter of 0.246 inches (Letter D) with a tight tolerance of plus 0.0001 to plus 0.0004 inches, a body outside diameter of 7/16 inches, and an overall length of 5/16 inches. Manufactured from steel, the PT285HD is a fixed, non-renewable bushing intended for permanent installation in jig plates and drill fixtures. Machinists, toolmakers, and fixture builders working in precision machining environments are the primary installers of this component.
This bushing is suited for use in drill jigs, fixture tooling, and production setups where consistent hole location and tool guidance are required across repeated operations. The headless design allows the bushing to sit flush within the jig plate, making it appropriate for applications where clearance above the work surface is limited or where a smooth, unobstructed fixture face is needed. It is a standard catalog size conforming to common jig bushing industry dimensions, and fits tooling setups calling for a P-series headless press fit bushing.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-install component for drill jig fixtures and tooling plates requiring a P-series headless press fit bushing with a 0.246 inches inside diameter and 7/16 inches outside diameter.
Installation is performed by toolmakers or machinist-level trades using an arbor press or hydraulic press to seat the bushing flush into a precision-reamed hole in the jig plate. The receiving bore in the jig plate must be machined to the appropriate interference fit specification to ensure the bushing is retained securely without rotation or pullout. Do not drive the bushing with a hammer directly on the bore face, as this can distort the inside diameter and compromise tool guidance accuracy. Because this is a non-renewable bushing, replacement requires pressing out the worn part and restoring the jig plate bore before pressing in the new bushing.
