The BONEHAM PT244FZ is a press fit headless drill bushing used to guide drill bits with precision in jig and fixture applications. Manufactured from steel, this bushing features a 0.196 inch inside diameter (wire size number 9) and a 3/8 inch body outside diameter with an overall length of 1/4 inch. The headless design allows flush or sub-flush installation in tight fixture plates where a flanged head would interfere. Inside diameter tolerance is held to +0.0001 to +0.0004 inches, providing consistent hole location accuracy across production runs. Machinists, toolmakers, and fixture builders install this type of bushing in drill jigs used across metalworking, manufacturing, and light fabrication environments.
This bushing suits applications where a permanent, non-renewable press fit is required. It is pressed directly into a reamed bushing hole in the jig plate and is not designed for removal and replacement during normal service. Typical use cases include production drilling, reaming, and light countersinking operations where repeatable hole placement is critical. The steel construction handles standard cutting loads in both manual and CNC-assisted fixture setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-build component for drill jigs and fixtures requiring a press fit headless bushing with a number 9 wire size inside diameter and a 3/8 inch outside diameter.
Installation is performed by toolmakers or machinist professionals using an arbor press or hydraulic press to seat the bushing into a properly reamed hole in the jig plate. The receiving hole must be reamed to the bushing outside diameter tolerance to achieve correct interference fit — do not drive the bushing in with a hammer, as this can damage the bore or misalign the bushing. Once pressed in, the bushing is not intended for removal. Verify inside diameter alignment with the intended drill wire size before pressing.
