The BONEHAM P4028KI is a press fit headless drill bushing designed to guide cutting tools with precision in jig and fixture applications. Built from steel with an inside diameter of 0.413 inches and a body outside diameter of 5/8 inches, this bushing installs directly into a drill jig plate without a head or locking collar, creating a flush, clean surface. The overall bushing length is 1-3/4 inches. The inside diameter tolerance is held to +0.0001 to +0.0005 inches, ensuring consistent hole location across repeated drilling, reaming, or boring operations. Machinists, toolmakers, and fixture builders rely on this class of bushing for production and prototype work requiring repeatable accuracy.
This bushing suits steel, cast iron, and fabricated drill jig plates in both job shop and production environments. It is a permanent installation component — once pressed in, it is not intended to be removed and replaced. Applications include drilling, reaming, and light boring guide work where a flush, headless profile is required and tool clearance or plate thickness makes a headed style impractical. The P industry code designates the outside diameter and tolerance class per standard tooling specifications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-install drill bushing for steel jig plates and fixture assemblies requiring a P-code press fit headless style with a 5/8-inch outside diameter.
Installation is performed by toolmakers or machinists using an arbor press or hydraulic press to seat the bushing flush with or below the jig plate surface. The receiving hole in the jig plate must be machined to the correct press fit bore tolerance before installation. Do not drive the bushing with a hammer directly on the bore — use a proper driver or arbor to avoid distorting the inside diameter. Once installed, this bushing is not designed for removal; replace the jig plate or bushing section if the guide bore becomes worn.
