The BONEHAM P4028IU is a press fit headless drill bushing used to guide drill bits and other cutting tools with precision during machining and fabrication operations. Manufactured from steel with a hardness of 60 to 65 HRC, this bushing delivers the wear resistance required in high-cycle production drilling fixtures. The 21/64-inch inside diameter and 5/8-inch outside diameter are held to close tolerances, with an inside diameter tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0005 inches, ensuring consistent hole location across repeated operations. The 1-3/4-inch overall length provides stable tool guidance through the jig plate. It is installed by pressing directly into a drill jig or fixture plate, requiring no additional locking hardware.
This bushing is used in machine shops, tool rooms, and production floor environments where repeatable drill guidance is critical. It suits applications in metalworking jigs and fixtures for both prototype and volume drilling operations. The headless design sits flush with the jig plate surface, making it appropriate for applications where a protruding head would interfere with workpiece clearance. Machinists, toolmakers, and fixture builders are the primary installers. The bushing industry code P designates a standard press fit type per ANSI specifications.
Designed as a standard ANSI press fit headless drill bushing for use in machining jigs and fixtures requiring a 5/8-inch bore and 21/64-inch tool guide diameter.
Installation is performed by toolmakers or machinists using an arbor press to seat the bushing flush into the fixture plate bore. Power down all associated machinery before handling or pressing bushings into active jig assemblies. Ensure the mating bore in the jig plate is machined to the correct interference fit per ANSI drill bushing standards before pressing. Do not drive the bushing with impact tools, as this can distort the inside diameter and compromise tool guidance accuracy.
