The BONEHAM P165DY is a press fit headless drill bushing designed to guide cutting tools with precision in jig and fixture applications. Manufactured from steel with a hardness rating of 60 to 65 HRC, this bushing provides the wear resistance required for repeated drilling cycles. The inside diameter measures 0.1285 inches (Wire size No. 30) with a tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0004 inches, ensuring accurate hole location and consistent tool guidance. The body outside diameter is 1/4 inch and the overall length is 5/16 inch. The headless design allows the bushing to sit flush with the jig plate surface, making it suitable for applications where a protruding head would interfere with workpiece clearance.
This bushing is used in drill jig and fixture setups across metalworking, machining, and fabrication environments. It is installed where controlled, repeatable hole placement is critical, such as in production drilling operations on metal workpieces. The press fit installation method locks the bushing permanently into the jig plate without the need for a locking mechanism, making it appropriate for fixed, high-volume drilling stations. Machinists and toolmakers working in job shops, production floors, and MRO environments typically select this style for applications that do not require bushing removal or replacement during normal service.
Designed as an ANSI-standard press fit headless drill bushing for use in drill jig plates and fixtures requiring a 1/4 inch outside diameter bore and No. 30 wire gauge drill guidance.
Press fit bushings are typically installed by a machinist or toolmaker using an arbor press to seat the bushing flush and square into a properly sized hole in the jig plate. The receiving bore in the jig plate must be machined to the correct interference fit tolerance before installation. Do not drive the bushing in with a hammer blow directly on the face, as this can damage the bore or distort the bushing. Once pressed in, this bushing is not designed for removal and reinstallation.
