The BONEHAM HL648NC is an HL-series drill bushing liner with a headed flange, designed to guide drill bits with precision in jig and fixture applications. The liner seats into a renewable bushing or hardened jig plate via press fit installation, providing a stable, accurate guide surface for repetitive drilling operations. Built from alloy steel, the HL648NC features a 3/4-inch inside diameter, a 1-inch body outside diameter, a 1-1/8-inch head outside diameter, a 1/2-inch liner length, and a 1/8-inch head height. Machinists, toolmakers, and fixture builders typically specify and install this type of liner in production drilling setups where interchangeable bushings are required.
The HL648NC is suited for use in drill jigs, fixtures, and tooling plates across general machining, manufacturing, and metalworking environments. It is typically installed in applications requiring consistent hole location and repeatable drill guidance, particularly where the headed design is needed to positively locate the bushing against a jig plate surface. The press fit installation method makes it compatible with standard liner-to-jig-body interference fit practices used in production and tool room settings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation HL-series drill bushing liner for use in standard drill jigs and fixtures that accept press fit liner bushings with a 1-inch body outside diameter.
Installation is performed by toolmakers or machinists using an arbor press or hydraulic press to achieve the required interference fit between the bushing liner and the jig plate bore. The bore in the receiving plate must be finish-reamed to the correct tolerance before pressing to avoid damage to the liner or the fixture. Always confirm the inside diameter is free of burrs and debris before inserting a cutting tool. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and equipment lockout practices when working with drill jigs under power.
