The BONEHAM H4028JE is a press fit headed drill bushing manufactured to Type H industry standards. It is designed to guide drill bits, reamers, and other cutting tools with precision during machining and fabrication operations. The bushing features a 0.348 inch inside diameter (Letter S), a 5/8 inch body outside diameter, and a 1-3/4 inch length under the head. Constructed from steel, it provides the hardness and wear resistance required for repetitive drilling cycles in jig and fixture applications. Inside diameter tolerance is held to +0.0001 to +0.0005 inches for consistent tool guidance. Machinists, toolmakers, and precision fabricators install this component in drill jig assemblies.
The H4028JE is suited for use in drill jigs across general metalworking, aerospace component fabrication, and industrial manufacturing environments. Its headed design allows it to seat flush against a jig plate surface, providing a positive stop and preventing migration under axial load. The press fit installation method locks the bushing permanently into the jig plate bore without requiring additional fasteners or locking collars. This bushing is a non-renewable type, meaning it is intended for fixed, permanent installation rather than field replacement during a production run.
Designed as a permanent press fit replacement or new-installation drill bushing for Type H headed bushing applications in standard drill jig plates sized to accept a 5/8 inch body outside diameter.
Installation is performed by toolmakers or machinists using an arbor press or hydraulic press to drive the bushing into a properly reamed jig plate bore. The jig plate bore must be machined to the correct interference fit tolerance for the 5/8 inch body outside diameter before installation. Because this is a non-renewable bushing, confirm placement and orientation before pressing fully seated. Do not use an impact hammer directly on the bushing head, as this can damage the precision bore or distort the head seating surface.
