The BMI USA 6374 is a lead-free brass street 90-degree elbow fitting designed for threaded pipe connections in plumbing systems. This male-by-female (street) configuration allows a direct connection to another fitting without a nipple, reducing the number of components in tight spaces. At 0.24 pounds, it is a compact, lightweight fitting suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting to change flow direction by 90 degrees in threaded piping runs.
This fitting is used in water supply and distribution systems where a 90-degree directional change is required. The 1/2-inch thread size is one of the most common sizes in residential plumbing rough-in work, making this fitting applicable to a wide range of potable water, hydronic, and general plumbing applications. Its lead-free construction meets requirements for use in potable water systems under applicable plumbing codes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-use fitting for 1/2-inch threaded brass plumbing systems in residential and light commercial applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) or applicable local codes. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly, and tighten to snug-plus using a pipe wrench — do not over-tighten brass fittings, as this can crack the fitting body. Inspect for leaks after restoring system pressure.
