The BMI USA 6272 is a lead-free brass street 45-degree elbow fitting designed for threaded pipe connections in plumbing and mechanical systems. It features a male-by-female (MXF) thread configuration, allowing it to thread directly into a fitting socket on one end while accepting a threaded pipe or fitting on the other. This eliminates the need for a separate coupling in many installations. At 0.09 pounds, it is a compact, lightweight component suited for tight spaces. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting during new construction and retrofit work where a 45-degree directional change is needed in a threaded piping run.
This fitting is used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems, including potable water supply lines, hydronic heating distribution, and general mechanical piping. The street configuration is common where space constraints make a standard elbow impractical. Its lead-free brass construction meets requirements for use in drinking water applications under applicable plumbing codes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use threaded brass street elbow for residential and light commercial potable water and mechanical piping systems using 0.25-inch threaded connections.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before making or breaking any threaded connections. Apply thread sealant tape or pipe dope to male threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten brass fittings, as the material can crack under excessive torque.
