The BMI USA 6148 is a lead free brass hex bushing used to reduce pipe connections from a larger female thread to a smaller male thread. The hex body provides a flat wrench surface for secure installation and removal without slipping or damaging adjacent fittings. At 1.28 pounds, this bushing is machined from solid brass for corrosion resistance and long service life in pressurized piping systems. It is appropriate for potable water, general plumbing, and light commercial applications where lead free compliance is required by code.
This bushing is sized at 2.5 inches female iron pipe thread by 1.25 inches male iron pipe thread, making it suitable for reducing connections in supply lines, manifold assemblies, and branch piping. Licensed plumbers install this fitting in residential and light commercial plumbing systems where a threaded reducer is needed between dissimilar pipe sizes. Its lead free brass construction meets drinking water safe material requirements.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement hex bushing for standard female-to-male iron pipe thread reducer applications in residential and light commercial plumbing systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads prior to assembly, and tighten using a pipe wrench engaged on the hex flats. Do not over-tighten, as this can crack the fitting body or damage mating threads.
