The BMI USA 6144 is a lead-free brass hex bushing designed to reduce pipe thread sizes in plumbing and piping systems. This threaded fitting accepts a 2-inch male NPT connection on the outer end and steps down to a 1/2-inch female NPT connection, making it a standard reducing bushing for joining pipes or fittings of different diameters. The hex body provides a solid grip surface for wrench installation. At 0.69 pounds, the fitting is solid and well-suited for potable water, general plumbing, and light commercial piping applications. Licensed plumbers and pipe fitters are the primary installers of this component.
This bushing is used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems where a threaded reduction is needed between a 2-inch line and a 1/2-inch port or fitting. Common applications include water supply lines, manifold connections, and equipment hookups where thread-size transitions are required. The lead-free brass construction meets requirements for use in potable water systems.
Designed as a standard threaded hex bushing for use with NPT-threaded pipes and fittings in residential and light commercial plumbing systems requiring a 2-inch to 1/2-inch reduction.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off water supply and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply thread sealant tape or pipe dope to the male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten, as brass fittings can crack under excessive torque.
