The BMI USA 6142 is a lead-free brass hex bushing designed for threaded pipe connections in plumbing systems. This fitting reduces a larger female-threaded port to a smaller male-threaded outlet, making it a standard component in residential and light commercial plumbing assemblies. The 2-inch by 1-inch sizing covers one of the most common reduction combinations in supply and distribution piping. Machined from brass, it provides reliable corrosion resistance and a secure thread seal when properly installed with the appropriate thread sealant or tape. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers of this fitting.
This hex bushing is suited for water supply, distribution, and general plumbing applications where a threaded pipe reduction is needed. The hexagonal body allows for standard wrench engagement, making installation straightforward in both new construction and retrofit situations. Its lead-free construction meets requirements for potable water contact in residential and commercial plumbing systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard NPT threaded plumbing systems requiring a 2-inch to 1-inch reduction.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before working on any threaded connections. Apply an approved thread sealant tape or compound to the male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten, as brass threads can be damaged by excessive torque.
