The BMI USA 6137 is a lead-free brass hex bushing designed to reduce pipe thread sizes in threaded plumbing and piping assemblies. It features a male NPT on the larger end and a female NPT on the smaller end, allowing a 1-1/2 inch connection to step down to a 3/4 inch connection. Constructed from solid brass, this bushing resists corrosion and holds up in both hot and cold water service lines. Its hexagonal body provides a flat-to-flat grip surface for wrench installation. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in residential and light commercial applications where thread size transitions are required.
This bushing is suited for use in potable water supply lines, hydronic heating systems, and general-purpose threaded piping systems. The lead-free construction meets requirements for contact with drinking water, making it appropriate for domestic water service installations. It is used wherever a 1-1/2 inch to 3/4 inch NPT reduction is needed within a threaded pipe assembly.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-install fitting for standard NPT threaded pipe systems requiring a 1-1/2 inch to 3/4 inch size reduction.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply appropriate thread sealant tape or compound to the male NPT threads before assembly and tighten with a pipe wrench to the hex flats. Do not over-tighten, as excessive force can crack brass fittings or distort threads.
