The BMI USA 6128 is a lead-free brass hex bushing designed for threaded pipe connections in plumbing and mechanical systems. It reduces a 1-inch male thread to a 1/2-inch female thread, allowing plumbers and pipefitters to transition between two common pipe sizes without additional adapters. The hexagonal body provides secure wrench engagement during installation, and the brass construction delivers reliable corrosion resistance in both hot and cold water service. At 0.3 pounds, the fitting is compact and straightforward to handle on the job.
This hex bushing is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications where a threaded pipe size reduction is required. Common install scenarios include water supply lines, distribution headers, and mechanical room piping where 1-inch and 1/2-inch threaded connections meet. The lead-free construction makes it appropriate for potable water systems subject to lead-free compliance requirements.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded brass fitting for standard NPT piping systems in residential and commercial plumbing applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off water supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply thread sealant tape or compound to male threads before makeup, and tighten using a pipe wrench on the hex body. Do not over-tighten, as brass threads can be damaged by excessive torque.
