The BMI USA 6121 is a lead-free brass hex bushing designed for threaded pipe connections in plumbing and mechanical systems. This bushing reduces a 1/2-inch female thread to a 1/8-inch male thread, allowing technicians to adapt between two different pipe sizes within a single fitting. The hexagonal body provides secure wrench engagement during installation and removal. Its lead-free brass construction meets modern potable water standards, making it appropriate for both domestic water supply lines and general mechanical piping applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers for this type of fitting.
This hex bushing is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations where a threaded pipe size reduction is required. It fits standard NPT-threaded pipe systems and is commonly used at fixture connections, valve assemblies, and equipment ports where differing pipe sizes must be joined. The compact hex profile allows installation in tight spaces where larger fittings would be impractical.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement hex bushing for standard NPT-threaded plumbing and mechanical piping systems requiring a 1/2-inch to 1/8-inch threaded reduction.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten brass fittings, as the material is subject to damage from excessive force.
