The BMI USA 6120 is a lead-free brass hex bushing designed to reduce pipe thread sizes in plumbing and fluid-handling systems. It connects a 1/2-inch female NPT fitting to a 1/4-inch male NPT fitting, making it a straightforward solution for thread-size transitions in water supply, compressed air, and general piping assemblies. Constructed from solid brass, this bushing offers reliable corrosion resistance and durability under normal service conditions. Its lead-free construction meets current potable water compliance requirements, making it suitable for installations where drinking water contact is a concern. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this type of fitting.
This hex bushing is used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems where a 1/2-inch threaded port must be reduced to accept 1/4-inch male threaded connections. Typical applications include water supply lines, air compressor fittings, manifold assemblies, and other threaded pipe systems requiring a compact, low-profile reducing bushing. The hex body profile allows for standard wrench engagement during installation and removal.
Designed as a standard NPT threaded hex bushing for use in residential and light commercial plumbing systems requiring a 1/2-inch to 1/4-inch thread reduction.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply thread sealant tape or pipe dope to the male threads before assembly, and tighten using an appropriately sized wrench on the hex body. Do not over-tighten, as brass fittings can crack under excessive torque.
