The BMI USA 6119 is a lead-free brass hex bushing designed to reduce a 1/2-inch female threaded port down to a 3/8-inch male threaded connection. This type of fitting is a standard component in plumbing and mechanical piping systems where pipe size transitions are required at threaded joints. Machined from brass, the bushing provides reliable sealing performance and corrosion resistance in both water supply and low-pressure fluid applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting as part of rough-in and finish plumbing work across residential and light commercial projects.
The 6119 hex bushing is suited for use in potable water supply lines, hydronic heating systems, and general-purpose threaded piping assemblies. Its lead-free construction meets requirements for use in drinking water systems under applicable plumbing codes. The hex profile allows installation and removal with standard wrenches, making it practical in tight spaces where straight couplings or nipples are not sufficient for the size transition needed.
Designed as a standard threaded hex bushing for use with 1/2-inch female NPT and 3/8-inch male NPT connections in residential and light commercial plumbing systems.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers following applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before installing or removing any threaded fitting. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly, and tighten with a wrench to the fitting flats — do not use the pipe body as a grip point. Avoid over-tightening, which can crack the fitting or damage female threads in the mating component.
