The BMI USA 6041 is a lead-free brass threaded coupling designed for joining pipe sections in plumbing and mechanical systems. This fitting connects a 2-inch line to a 1-1/4-inch line, making it a standard reducing coupling for transition points in water supply and distribution piping. Weighing 1.22 pounds, the fitting is constructed from solid brass, offering reliable corrosion resistance and durability under normal service conditions. Licensed plumbers install this type of fitting in both residential and light commercial applications where threaded iron-pipe-size connections are required.
This coupling is suited for water supply lines, hydronic heating systems, and general plumbing distribution where a threaded reducing connection between 2-inch and 1-1/4-inch pipe is needed. The lead-free construction meets requirements for use in potable water systems. It is appropriate for new installation work as well as repair and retrofit projects where existing threaded infrastructure is in place.
Designed as a standard threaded reducing coupling for use with 2-inch by 1-1/4-inch iron-pipe-size threaded pipe in residential and commercial plumbing systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly, and tighten with appropriate pipe wrenches — avoid overtightening, which can crack brass fittings. Inspect the joint for leaks after restoring pressure.
