The BMI USA 4900 is a lead-free brass close pattern nipple designed for use in threaded pipe assemblies across plumbing and mechanical systems. This fitting connects two female-threaded fittings or ports with minimal standoff, making it a practical choice where space is limited and a tight, reliable metal-to-metal connection is needed. Machined from brass, the 4900 accepts standard pipe thread on both ends and is sized at 2 inches. Its lead-free construction meets modern potable water standards, making it suitable for use in domestic water distribution systems where material compliance is required.
This nipple is commonly installed in residential and light commercial plumbing systems, including water supply lines, boiler connections, and general pipe distribution work. It is appropriate for use wherever a short threaded connector is needed between valves, tees, couplings, or other threaded fittings. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers for this type of fitting.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-service brass nipple for use in residential and commercial threaded pipe systems where 2-inch NPT connections are required.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before making or breaking any threaded connections. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to all threads before assembly. Do not overtighten, as brass threads can be damaged by excessive force.
