The BMI USA 4871 is a lead-free brass threaded nipple designed for use in plumbing supply and distribution systems. Machined from solid brass, this nipple provides a durable, corrosion-resistant connection between threaded fittings, valves, and pipe runs. At 11 inches in length with a 1-1/2 inch nominal diameter, it suits both short and intermediate extension applications. The lead-free construction meets safe drinking water requirements, making it appropriate for potable water systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this type of fitting.
This threaded nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing systems where a 1-1/2 inch threaded connection is required. Typical applications include water supply lines, distribution manifolds, boiler piping, and general pipe extension work. The 11-inch length makes it useful where standard close or short nipples are insufficient and a measured extension is needed between fittings or equipment connections.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting compatible with standard 1-1/2 inch NPT threaded pipe systems in potable water, hydronic, and general plumbing applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before installing or removing any threaded fitting. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten, as brass threads can be damaged by excessive torque.
