The BMI USA 4850 is a lead-free brass threaded pipe nipple designed for use in potable water, plumbing distribution, and fluid transfer systems. Measuring 1.5 inches in diameter and 5 inches in length, this nipple provides a reliable, corrosion-resistant connection between threaded fittings, valves, and pipe runs. The red-finish brass construction meets lead-free standards required for drinking water applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting during new construction and retrofit work where a short, fixed-length threaded extension is needed.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications including water supply lines, distribution manifolds, boiler connections, and general fluid handling systems. The 1.5-inch diameter makes it appropriate for main supply branches and larger-diameter service connections. Its standard NPT threading ensures compatibility with common brass, copper, and iron fittings found throughout the trade.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting compatible with standard 1.5-inch NPT threaded plumbing systems in residential and commercial applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten — hand-snug plus one to two turns with a pipe wrench is typical for brass fittings to avoid cracking.
