The BMI USA 4820 is a lead-free brass threaded nipple designed for use in potable water and general plumbing distribution systems. Measuring 1-1/2 inches in diameter and 2 inches in length, this close-tolerance fitting provides a reliable threaded connection between pipes, valves, and fittings in both residential and light commercial applications. Constructed from solid brass with a red finish, it offers corrosion resistance and durability under normal service conditions. At 0.39 pounds, the fitting is compact and straightforward to handle. Its lead-free construction meets the requirements for installations on potable water lines where lead content restrictions apply.
This nipple is suited for plumbing installations where a short threaded male connection is needed between two female-threaded components. Common use cases include connecting valves to pipe runs, extending supply lines, and making up assemblies in water distribution, HVAC hydronic, and general fluid-handling systems. It is well-suited for plumbers working on residential water supply, boiler trim, and fixture supply rough-in work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-use threaded nipple compatible with 1-1/2 inch NPT female-threaded fittings, valves, and pipe connections in residential and commercial plumbing systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and IPC requirements. Shut off and depressurize the water supply before beginning any fitting work. Apply thread sealant tape or pipe compound to the male threads before assembly, and tighten to hand-snug plus a controlled number of additional turns — do not over-torque brass threads. Inspect for leaks after restoring system pressure.
