The BMI USA 4768 is a lead-free brass threaded nipple designed for use in potable water, plumbing, and fluid distribution systems. It serves as a short pipe connector between two female-threaded fittings or valves, maintaining a leak-resistant seal under standard service pressure. At 8 inches in length and 1-1/4 inch nominal diameter, this nipple suits a range of residential and light commercial plumbing applications. Constructed from brass with a red finish, it meets lead-free material standards appropriate for drinking water contact. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this type of fitting.
This nipple is used in potable water supply lines, hydronic heating systems, and general-purpose fluid piping where a brass threaded connector is required. The 1-1/4 inch nominal size is common in main supply runs, boiler connections, and manifold assemblies in both residential and light commercial settings. Its 8-inch length provides adequate extension between fittings without requiring additional couplings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation brass nipple for standard 1-1/4 inch NPT threaded fittings, valves, and pipe assemblies in plumbing and hydronic systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before threading the nipple into place. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten, as brass threads can be damaged by excessive torque.
