The BMI USA 4730 is a lead free brass threaded nipple designed for use in potable water, plumbing, and fluid distribution systems. This close-pattern nipple provides a reliable threaded connection between pipe sections, valves, fittings, and equipment in both residential and light commercial installations. Measuring 1-1/4 inches in diameter and 3 inches in length, it is constructed from solid brass with a red finish. Its lead free construction makes it suitable for systems that require compliance with safe drinking water standards. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this type of fitting.
This nipple is suited for potable water supply lines, hydronic heating distribution piping, and general plumbing rough-in work where a short threaded extension or connection between fittings is required. The 1-1/4 inch pipe size is common in main supply runs, water meter connections, and branch lines serving multiple fixtures in residential and light commercial buildings. It is also used in irrigation manifolds and non-corrosive fluid transfer applications where brass is the specified material.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for 1-1/4 inch NPT threaded plumbing systems in residential and light commercial applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly, and tighten using a pipe wrench to a secure, leak-free fit without over-torquing the brass threads. Inspect for leaks after restoring system pressure.
