The BMI USA 4670 is a lead-free brass threaded nipple designed for use in potable water, plumbing distribution, and general piping systems. This close-pattern fitting measures 1 inch in diameter and 10 inches in length, providing a reliable threaded connection between pipe sections, valves, or fittings. Constructed from solid brass with a red finish, the 4670 delivers corrosion resistance and long service life in both hot and cold water applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of nipple where a straight, rigid extension between threaded components is required.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations, including supply lines, boiler piping, and hydronic heating distribution. Its lead-free construction meets modern drinking water standards, making it appropriate for potable water service in jurisdictions enforcing low-lead compliance requirements. The 10-inch length fills gaps between threaded components where standard short nipples are insufficient, reducing the need for additional couplings or adapters in tight runs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use threaded nipple compatible with 1-inch NPT fittings, valves, and pipe in residential and commercial plumbing systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local amendments. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly and tighten with a pipe wrench to avoid cross-threading or over-torquing the fitting body.
