The BMI USA 4660 is a lead-free brass threaded nipple designed for use in potable water, hydronic, and general plumbing systems. Machined from solid brass with a red finish, this nipple provides a durable, corrosion-resistant connection between threaded fittings, valves, and pipe assemblies. At 6 inches in length and 1 inch in diameter, it fits standard NPT-threaded components. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting in both residential and light commercial applications where lead-free compliance is required by code.
This nipple is suited for potable water supply lines, hydronic heating distribution piping, and general-purpose plumbing assemblies requiring a short threaded extension or close connection. The lead-free construction meets the requirements of state and federal safe drinking water regulations, making it appropriate for any installation that contacts drinking water. It is commonly used in boiler rooms, mechanical rooms, and residential plumbing rough-in work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use nipple for residential and light commercial threaded plumbing systems using 1-inch NPT fittings and valves.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly, and tighten to a firm connection without overtightening, which can crack fittings or distort threads. Inspect for leaks after restoring system pressure.
