The BMI USA 4650 is a lead-free brass pipe nipple designed for threaded plumbing connections in residential and light commercial water supply systems. Measuring 1 inch in diameter and 5 inches in length, this nipple serves as a short threaded connector between fittings, valves, and pipe runs. Brass construction provides corrosion resistance and durability in potable water applications. The lead-free designation meets current Safe Drinking Water Act standards, making it appropriate for use on lines carrying drinking water. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting as a standard component in supply line assemblies.
This nipple is suited for residential and commercial plumbing installations where a 1-inch threaded male connection is required. Common applications include water heater connections, boiler piping, pressure reducing valve installations, and general supply line work. The 5-inch length provides enough reach for close-coupled fittings and manifold connections. It is compatible with standard NPT threaded fittings and valves of the same nominal pipe size.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fitting for 1-inch NPT threaded plumbing systems in residential and light commercial applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before threading or unthreading any fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten; use a pipe wrench with proper support on the adjacent fitting to avoid stressing connected components.
